A day in Athens!

We started the day with a fantastic brunch of everything imaginable... then headed off to the big hike up to the Acropolis, Parthenon, Athena's temple, and the outdoor theatre where they put on plays and dramas....

Then, we walked to the brand new Acropolis museum, and boy was it spectacular... it's the newest thing in museumology (?) where the entire museum is showcasing artifacts and "blank spaces" where the pieces in the British Museum (that they stole) will someday return to their homeland, Greece. From being able to see the excavation in the see through floor, to the glass wall with the view of the Acropolis and the lighting above, this is a museum that's unbelievable and amazing.

Then... lunch... Michelle, we had authentic Greek salad in Greece and it's much better than Texas.

Then off to the archeological museum and saw a complete statue of Poseidon found in the ocean bed. Fabulous!

Then.... whew... headed 0ff to the ship, haven't stopped or unpacked yet... had red snapper for dinner, among other many delicious dishes... hearing piano right now... should we unpack??? Oh, ok... gotta go,

Love to you ALL

Melanie and Melany

P.S. Having the time of our life!

  1. Hi ya'll, I'm still following you while I'm at home so keep the details coming. You both look good and you've already seen so much. I think that your brains are going to explode before you get back. What is the ship like? Photos please. How are your fellow passengers? Details, more details!

  2. Good morning Sandy,

You may be right about our brains exploding..but we will go with a ton of information loaded within. The ship is really nice, food is great, crew is wonderful and friendly, our room is very pretty and quite large. We have a bedroom area and a sitting area and private bath, lots of closet and drawer space and vanity area.

The passengers are very friendly and we have enjoyed visiting and dining with all of them. They are from all over the country and one couple is from England. They are regular folks just like us. No prentences nor airs. They do find it rather awsome that mother-in-law and dauther-in-law are traveling together. We think it is great that you are keeping up with us.

    Lots of Love,
    Melanie
